Solar Heating News

Ecological concerns are becoming a priority for not only governments, but to individual home owners. As we move more towards sustainable energy sources, solar heating plays a more important role.

In the USA, tax breaks are available for solar pool heating and in other states, legislation is being introduced to make it law to use solar heating as part of the pool heating system.

For example, in Southampton NY, a heated pool MUST have a properly sized solar pool heating system to maintain water at 80 degrees, a secondary source may be installed but be of the highest efficiency.

New Jersey is considering introducing "the Hybrid Swimming Pool Heating act", which would demand that at least 25% of the swimming pool heating is acheived through solar power.

Swimming Pool Problem Solving or Quick Guides

Above ground, temporary use pools. These types of pool are ideal for cooling off in in the hot summer months. These pools are available in different sizes and usually come with a pump and cartridge type or paper filter.

Intex produces a range of above ground pools, from the easy set up, inflatable one at the top, to the elegant wood panelled unit at the bottom.

The easy set up pool is just that - inflate the ring at the top, then fill with water, connect pump and filter and your ready!

intex above ground pools

The principal of the above ground pool is simple, it provides a swimming pool in summer where there normally there would not be space for a permanant one. Some above ground pools are designed for year round use and not to be moved.

Above ground pools normally warm up faster than traditional inground swimming pools.

In most cases above ground pool is not a permenant structure, so it does not need planning permission. Above ground pools are available from 100€ up to 6000€.

The care of temporary pools is fairly easy, just chlorinate water, run filter for specified length of time and thats it. There is not normally a facility for hoovering the pool. If the base gets dirty, brush it and run filter for longer. The filter element may need washing out from time to time.

Some of the smaller units do not last for more than a couple of seasons, the plastic either dries out during winter, due to chlorine action, or they get punctured.

When purchasing an inground pool, make sure you have enough space for it!
