Swimming Pool Heating using Vacuum Tubes
Vacuum technology for pool heating is the most efficient solar based heating available.
Vacuum tubes were first designed to heat water in the far northern extremities, although there are no swimming pools there, if the tubes can heat water in sub zero temperatures, they should be more than able to heat water in a temperate climate. Never directly plumb vacuum tubes into the pool system, there has to be a heat exchanger.
Because the water passes through a tube, surrounded by a vacuum, the suns rays and heat is transferred, but not cooled by wind.

Traditional solar panels need 75% of the surface area of the pool in panels, which presents some challenges of where to put the panels, vacuum tubes greatly reduce this need.

Evacuated vacuum tubes for swimming pool heating, are the most efficient solar heating available, but this efficiency is expensive. An installation would be comparable in price to a heat pump. A heat exchanger is needed (preferably Titanium), plus control equipment to turn the circulation pump on and off as heat is required. The control gear will also ensure that the pump is only turned on if there is heat available
Efficiency of vacuum tubes is reduced with reduced sunshine, but not to the same extent as traditional solar panels.
