Solar Swimming Pool Heating
Solar swimming pool heating has many advantages in climates where there is plentiful sun, with advances in vacuum technology and more efficient solar panels a reliable installation is a reality.
Vacuum tube solar pool heating is extremely efficient, the tubes were designed to boil water in the Arctic circle! The tubes are so effective that the water from them can not be pumped directly into the swimming pool, it must go into a heat exchanger first.
These tubes are good because they are compact, not needing much room for installation.

Traditional solar panels need 75% of the surface area of the pool in panels, which presents some challenges of where to put the panels and how to get the water from the pool to them.
A good solar installation should include a temperature sensor that will start and stop the pump, its no good pumping water through the panels if they are colder than the pool water.

Solar heating for a pool can be installed relativly cheaply as there are mass produced plastic panels and tubing systems available. These solar heating systems will give a useful boost in the swimming pool warmth, but can only be seen to extend the swimming season, which is perfect for most people. For true all year round heating by solar, look towards vacuum tubes.
