Pool Problems, just ask...

Quick Guides

The idea of the infinity pool is to give the impression of a continuous body of water.

The infinity pool takes skill to get right. The construction of the pool has to be well executed, especially the part where the water flows over. This must be absolutly level. The pump must also be of the right size to be able to pump an adequate volume of water over the lip, otherwise there will be problems with water staining. These pools are divided into 2 categories, ones where the water flows over just one end, or those where the water flows over all the way round into a grid.

Other common faults of infinity pool installations where the water flows over just one edge, is that there is no provision for a separate skimmer. This is often argued by the constructor that it is not needed because the leaves etc will be removed by the infinity edge. Sometimes it is not practical to have the edge running, for example in a heated pool, this would nearly double the running costs. In summer the overflow increase water usage through evaporation. In the swimming pool featured above, the skimmers are hidden in the corners under the water features.

The biggest fault is often there is no reservoir for the overflow. The system then relies on a combination of non return valves to ensure smooth running. If these block or fail, the swimming pool will empty its self. The reservoir of a negative edge pool is critical to its proper operation.

Negative edge pool leaks are normally attributable to a poor initial design, rather than actual leaks.
